Vesteda Group, board

Mr. H.C.F. (Huub) Smeets (1947), CEO

Mr. Smeets is CEO of the Vesteda Group. As a statutory director, he is also responsible for the following focus areas: strategy, acquisition and project development, personnel and organisation, legal affairs (including insurance), corporate communications and investor relations.

Curriculum vitae

After obtaining his degree in law at the Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, he was an active participant in organising the urban redevelopment activities in Maastricht and the spatial planning and economic development of Meerssen, starting in the second half of the 1970s. In 1988, he was appointed director of Urban Development and Zoning in Maastricht. In this position, he was the municipal official with primary responsibility for various large-scale projects, including the Céramique and Markt/Maas (Market/Meuse) projects.

Start of employment

Mr Smeets has been Managing Director of Vesteda since January 2000. Since November 2003, he has served as chairman of the board and since August 2006 as CEO.

Other positions

His other activities include membership of the Cultural Council and chairmanship of the Werner Mantz Association (photography).
