Almere, Side by Side project
The Side by Side project is located alongside the Weerwater, near the new urban heart with its town hall and shopping centre. The architectural firm OMA prepared the urban development plan for this area. In addition to a significant expansion of the shops in the area, a mega-cinema, an entertainment centre, a library and a theatre have already been completed in the urban heart. The architect Frits van Dongen from Architecten Cie created the design for Side by Side. The design consists of two residential towers with a total of 154 apartments. The lower floors contain areas for leisure activities on the part of the residents, such as a lounge and a swimming pool as well as a sauna and fitness area. A branch office of the Vesteda Amsterdam unit is also located here. The first tower was offered for rent in 2007. In 2008, the second tower, containing 82 units, was completed, and extra air conditioning was installed in both towers. |
