Mr Voerman, La Fenêtre in Den Haag

"Before I moved here, I didn't know what it meant to have a beautiful view."

Roderick Voerman and his partner Marichelle Kraan live in La Fenêtre in The Hague. “And we enjoy every day of it,” says Roderick. This might seem surprising coming from someone with such close ties to Rotterdam, but he hasn't really felt cut off from his city for a single minute. “I can actually still see the Euromast from my own apartment! The weather is also rather special here. Often I can see sunshine and rain at the same time, resulting in beautifully reflected sunlight. Before I moved here, I never realised what it meant to have a beautiful view. Now I know: it means a lot.”

Mr Van Halst, Landmark in Bergen op Zoom

"I hear lots of people talking about the beautiful view from their house, but this is really the best!"

On a strip of land in front of Bergen op Zoom, you can find the Landmark residential building. This tower is a landmark alongside the water. Far away, the contours of the Zeeuwse Islands, Yerseke and Wemeldinge, are visible, and the Binnenschelde (inland canal) lies at the foot of the building. “I hear lots of people talking about the beautiful view from their house, but this is really the best!” explains Leendert van Halst. “We are surrounded by water on three sides, so it's practically a 360° panorama. Our choice of an apartment on the fifth floor was carefully considered. There was also one available on the tenth floor. From there, you can also see far into the distance, but you don't have a view of the Binnenschelde, which is also where the action is. For example, there are lots of kite surfers. They often come very close to shore and sometimes they almost seem to practically sail into our living room. Beautiful!”

Mr Tobiasen, Vroendaal in Maastricht

"I really enjoy the green environment and quiet here, but I also want to be near the city..."

Maastricht is located in the middle of a hilly region. The landscape rolls up and down around the city. On the south-eastern edge of the city, adjoining the hills, one can find Vroendaal, a complex consisting of 15 modern single-family houses, one of which is home to Ole Tobiasen and his wife Sulai. “You won't find this anywhere else in the Netherlands,” explains Ole, originally from Denmark. He is quite happy with the house and even more so with the surroundings. “From the living room on the first floor, we have a fantastic view of the meadow in front of the house, where horses and cows graze. We moved here in April, so we have not yet experienced a winter here, but I'm sure the hills also looked quite beautiful under a blanket of snow. I really enjoy the green environment and quiet here, but I also want to be near the city. From here, it takes only 10 minutes to reach the heart of Maastricht. It’s ideal!”

Mr Van der Born, Parkpromenade Berendrecht in Leiderdorp

"As far as location goes, we live in the ‘most beautiful of the four’."

Park promenade Berendrecht is located on the edge of Leiderdorp and consists of four residential towers. Koos van der Born: “As far as location goes, we live in the 'most beautiful of the four.' Really: from our apartment – we’re located on the seventh floor – we have a fantastic view. We look out over the De Houtkamp Park and the large pond adjacent to the towers are located. On one side, I can see the buds in the trees, and on the other I see the swans gliding by. In front of our building, there is a large waterside terrace – in fact on the water. In the summer, it's quite a lively scene there - right in front of our door. We can go out there and socialise or simply enjoy the view over the water from our balcony.”

Mr Breemer ter Stege, Piazza Céramique in Maastricht

"The fact that we each have our own workspace here as well as a beautiful residential unit upstairs is absolutely unique."

“My wife and I each have our own workspace. Annemiek has her art studio, where she creates her models for sculptures, and I have my consultancy. The fact that we each have our own workspace here as well as a beautiful residential unit upstairs is absolutely unique. Vesteda made this possible by offering us an extra level of space. We visited the place once and immediately fell in love with the combination of living and working near the city, the architecture, and the level of facilities and services offered. We have no fewer than 190 m² of space available for living and working here. The clean design lines of the building and its interior actually offer us a great deal of freedom. Everything has found its spot here, even our very large paintings in the living room.”
