In addition, Leidsche Rijn is located between the A2 and A12 highways, making it easily accessible by car. Green has also been considered within the Leidsche Rijn district, such as the Willem-Alexander Park on the roof of the Leidsche Rijntunnel. In the south of the district is the Recreatieplas Strijkviertel, a former sand extraction lake that was created in connection with the construction of the nearby A2, A12 motorways and the Oudenrijn interchange. On the edge of the district is the Máximapark, whose original name was Leidsche Rijnpark. It is a central park within the Leidsche Rijn Vinex location, surrounded by the Leidsche Rijn district to the east, the village of De Meern to the south and the village of Vleuten to the west.
